how to get smooth lips lip beauty products beauty blog

My lips get dry very easily. That's why I always have lip balm around me, whether it's in my purse, in my desk drawer, or on my nightstand. The annoying thing about just using lip balm, however, is you have to keep applying it every time it wears away. My lips are still dry and chapped underneath, they're just temporarily soothed by a fresh coat of lip balm. I soon realized, just like our face that needs more than just moisturizer to keep hydrated, so do our lips. As a result I went on a quest for the products I needed to have for softer and smoother lips 24/7. Here's the four must-haves I found will give you the perfect pout you were looking for every time.

1. Lip Scrub

I like to use a lip scrub at least once a week to slough off any dead skin cells that cause flakiness and fine lines on the lips. This sugar lip scrub from Bliss works wonders with natural oils and vitamins that condition as you exfoliate. You can also try this affordable, drugstore alternative that leaves a minty cold sensation.

2. Lip Mask

I think I may have already expressed just how much I love this overnight lip mask from Laniege. I wear it every night before I go to bed and wake up with smooth, soft lips without fail. The only thing I wish about this lip mask is that it wasn't so sticky on my lips, but hey, with lips so soft it's totally worth it! If leaving a lip mask on overnight sounds way too long for you, these lip-shaped gel masks are perfect. Just put one on for five minutes and you're good to go.

3. Lip Balm

A good lip balm is everything, especially if you prefer matte lipsticks which can be very drying on the lips. Fresh's Sugar Lip Treatment has always been a favorite of mine. The tinted version is pigmented enough to double as lipstick, which I love, plus it has sunscreen of SPF 15 so your lips can stay protected too. I'm also obsessed with the fact that it tastes a little bit like Skittles!

4. Lip Primer

I recently got this lip plumper as a gift from Bliss and I'm pleasantly surprised by how hydrating it is. I must admit, as a lip plumper I didn't notice much of a difference, but it does leave my lips feeling super soft and smooth all day long. As a result, any lipstick I put on top looks so much better than if I was without it. I'd totally purchase it if just for that. I also likeĀ this lip smoother from Dr. Brandt which uses hyaluronic acid andĀ this lip primer from Sephora for a pillowy perfect canvas before you put on your lippy.
