Drugstore Haul: Five Beauty Products You’ll Love For Under $20

best drugstore products under $20
I used to have this ritual everyday after school. On my way home I used to stop by the Duane Reade and make a beeline straight for the beauty section. I was obsessed with makeup when I was in high school. I’d rush home after spending ages in the aisles looking for just the right shade of lippy. Flash forward to today, and still, nothing beats the excitement of trying on a new shade of lipstick, even if it looks like all the other shades of lipstick I already own!

Even though I’ll be the first to say, Sephora is my beauty mecca, I still head over to the drugstore every now and again for the cheap thrill of finding something new. This is exactly what happened recently when I found myself browsing through the virtual aisles of Target and Walmart. I say, “virtual” because it’s seriously cold outside and online shopping has admittedly taken over my life! Anyway, here are five beauty products I think are totally worth buying at the drugstore. The best part is everything is under $20!

Five of the Best Drugstore Products Under $20

1. Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer, $8.99

I take my brow game seriously, so I wasn’t sure if this drugstore brand could live up to my high expectations. I didn’t think anything could knock my Anastasia Brow Wiz pencil off of the pedestal I gave it in my head. The end result? It’s pretty darn good! I love that the little fibers give me the power eyebrow I’ve until now only admired from the likes of bushy eyebrowed beauties, Lily Collins and Cara Delevingne. I still need to use my eyebrow pencil to fill in the ends of my eyebrows, which frustratingly never grow in. Overall though, this volumizer is great for most days when I don’t wear any makeup but still want to add a bit of definition to my features.

2. Nivea Men Post Shave Balm for Sensitive Skin, $5.99

When I stumbled across beauty blogger, Angela Giakas from Sunday Chapter saying she used Nivea Men’s Post Shave Balm as a makeup primer, I was like, okay I definitely need to try this one out! An aftershave as a primer? Say what?! I know right, but it really does work. According to Angela, the glycerin acts like a glue to help your makeup stick to your face so that it lasts all day long. Plus, the sensitive formula contains chamomile and vitamin E to soothe skin prone to irritation. I just pat it on my face after my usual skincare regime, then I put on my makeup. I must say, my makeup does seem to last longer. The real test will be during the humid summer months, so I can’t wait to try it out then. Have you tried this out as a makeup primer? I’d love to know what you think of it!

3. Peter Thomas Roth Un-Wrinkle Lip Treatment, $19.15

Okay, if you’re familiar with Peter Thomas Roth, you’re probably thinking, how is this a drugstore product line? That’s what I thought too! In fact, I originally bought this anti-aging lip treatment at Sephora for almost double the price because I didn’t do a search online to price check. Yup, rookie mistake! Something made me do a quick search on google and what d’ya know?! It happened to be available at Walmart, of all places. However make sure you keep an eye out for this and grab it when it’s a good deal. Walmart sells some of their items through different outside retailers so the price of this lip treatment will vary depending on the seller. I found this at a little over $16, which unfortunately is all sold out now. The next best price I could find for you all is $19.15. That’s still better than the $30 you would have spent at Sephora! Why do I love Peter Thomas Roth’s Un-Wrinkle Lip Treatment so much to go through all this trouble? This serum has done wonders to erase most of the deep lines on my lips. I could never figure out how to get rid of those pesky lines that made my lips look perpetually dry. I’ve used all sorts of lip balms, but nothing worked. Now my lips look and feel pillowy soft with just a small amount applied every morning and night.

4. Burt’s Bees Honey and Grapeseed Oil Hand Cream, $8.49

This is by far my favorite hand cream of all time. Honey is a natural humectant, which means it draws in and traps moisture from the air to relieve my hands when they are really dry. I love that it absorbs really quickly after applying and it seriously smells so heavenly!

5. Maybelline Illegal Length Fiber Extensions Waterproof Mascara, $6.94

I started this list with Maybelline and I’m going to end this list with Maybelline! Can you guess what my favorite drugstore cosmetic brand is? I’ve been using this mascara for ages and it definitely deserves a spot on my holy grail of drugstore finds. No matter how many expensive mascaras I decide to try, and that list has been many, I always go back to this formula from Maybelline. It never fails to add length to my wimpy lashes and it has never clumped on me. Never! Just two swipes and my lashes look naturally long and doe-like. I’ve gotten many compliments on my long lashes just by using this mascara. I swear, it’s that good!
