Unfortunately, this Sunday is particularly dreary for us at Cut & Chic. We weren’t able to get a stall at New Spitalfields market as we had hoped. Sundays are particularly busy for the market and all the stalls were taken by regulars who’ve been setting up shop in the East End for years and years.
Waking up at 5.30 in the morning and schlepping our suitcases and tools from bus to train to replacement bus service wasn’t all completely in vain however. We met a lovely trader by the name of Esther, an African woman whose lived in the England for 40 years. She usually works at Spitalfields during the weekdays, selling gloves and accessories, but joined the queue with us to try her luck at getting a stall on Sunday. She gave us some great advice and told us to keep trying, as the more we show up the better our chances. So that is exactly what we are going to do!
We’ve got a better chance on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays so we’re keeping our chins up and setting up shop during the weekdays until we are able to get a spot on the coveted Sunday slot.
The market is open on weekdays from 10am-4pm, so if you’re around the neighbourhood do stop by. Till then, we’ll keep you posted on our progress.
