For The Love of Vintage

I was browsing on the Interwebs the other night and found all these great quotes from models, actresses, and tastemakers on their love for vintage fashion. If you follow my blog, you’ll know I’m a staunch vintage supporter, so I just had to share some of my favorites from the bunch. After you have a read through, I’d love to hear the reason or reasons you love vintage as well. Feel free to share it with us in the comments section at the end. As for me, why do I love vintage fashion so much? Because I love how it expresses my individuality without having to say a word. With vintage, I know for a fact I’ll be wearing something no one else will have on.

‘I started dressing vintage when I was a teenager because I didn’t have money for designer clothes.’ —Dita Von Teese

‘I like a bit of designer, with a bit of vintage and high street mixed in. I love it when you find those one-off key pieces, which end up becoming investment pieces.’ —Cara Delevigne

‘I’m a real Londoner. We have very grey weather in London, and I think it encourages a very eclectic and crazy fashion sense. I mix high street stuff with more high-end fashion, and I love vintage.’—Emma Watson

‘I love to shop vintage clothes; in London, I usually go to Relic and Alfie’s Market. I usually brunch around London Bridge, where I live.’ —Georgia May Jagger

‘I am more vintage than I am high fashion.’ —Kat Graham

‘Style is a work of art, therefore I choose vintage.’ —@mabelinca1

‘It makes me cross when I hear people say, ‘It’s so last season.’ I always say, ‘It’s vintage.’ — Erin O’Connor

‘I love a vintage look that’s also a bit rock n’roll’ —Cara Delevigne

‘I am very curvy, so the vintage stores suit me better than most designers. I just can’t seem to give up crisps, or make my boobs shrink for that matter. Alas, I will never fit a size zero.’ —Marina and the Diamonds

‘I love playing around with vintage fabrics and lace.’ —Helena Christensen

‘I delight in the unexpected, and I love the challenge of shopping for, and wearing vintage. Will this fit me? How will I style this? What kind of “look” can I create? There are always surprises, and new things to discover that you have never considered before.’ —Emily Popek, Owner and Blogger of Bread and Roses Vintage

‘I’ve always loved fashion so much and I didn’t have access to the kind of fashion I really wanted, so I would do vintage shopping.’ —Rachel Roy

‘Basically, I always go to vintage shops rather than going shopping for new clothes.’ —Karen Gillen

‘I just like having something unique and more often than not, I connect with vintage stuff more than new pieces. Maybe it’s their weirdness of the romanticism of it all, I don’t know. But, I’ve always loved it since I was a kid. There’s something special about finding something uniquely you that probably no one else has in this day and age that is great.’ —Natalie Galasso, Owner of Sweet & Sour Vintage

‘I really like the bohemian look, and I’m a great fan of mixing vintage and modern.’ —Kierston Wareing

‘There’s so many great designers. I’m a bit of a vintage junkie when it comes to going out. I like to get unique pieces that you won’t see everyone wearing, but at the same time I don’t like to break the bank. I like to find great vintage pieces that you can hold on to for a long time.’ —Candice Accola
