    handmade jewelry dainty necklace ekalake

I think most of us can agree that it’s not how big, expensive, or flashy a gift is, but rather how much thought and care went into picking out that present for you. That’s why I think presents which you know were handcrafted with love and attention to detail are prezzies that are extra special. Enter Ekalake, an Australian-based online boutique offering an adorable range of unique handmade jewelry.

Recently, Ekalake sent me two of their lovely, dainty necklaces—this one I’m wearing in this post and this one, which I’ll show you how I wear in another post. I got so many compliments when I wore this marble triangle necklace. It’s such a chic piece and the turquoise charm really pops against my black sweater.

    A Little About Ekalake

Ekalake started on Etsy in mid-2010 by founder, Zee Chan. On their online shop, Zee mentions, ‘Our aim is to create pieces our customers love so much & desire so much at all times, that they want to pick their outfits to match our jewellery, and not the other way round.’ All of their top-quality pieces are handmade with love in limited quantities (no more than 50 is made of any one design). It always touches me to hear of entrepreneurs you are making it on their own and creating work that is near and dear to their hearts. I, myself, know what it’s like. You can hear more about Ekalake’s story here, here, and here.

I was so pleased with their necklaces when I got them in the mail. I immediately feel in love with Ekalake’s designs on their website, but as is the case with online shopping, I wasn’t entirely sure if they would look as beautiful as they do in their photos. Their price point is incredibly affordable (most of their jewelry is in the $15-20 range). From past experience affordable doesn’t really equate with quality, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised at the level of quality that I got from both necklaces. Even my mom commented on how beautiful my necklaces were, and trust me, she’s a tough critic when it comes to jewelry! Guess I know what I’m getting mom then 😉
