It may be a bit chilly here in NYC, but that’s not gonna stop me from wearing a dress for a very good cause. As you may have already read from my previous blog posts, I’m participating in Dressember 2013, a month long event, where women all around the world wear their dresses proudly to raise funds and awareness towards putting an end to human trafficking and sexual slavery.
Why do all this with a dress, you maybe asking? At it’s very core, Dressember started as a campaign for women to celebrate their feminity and beauty. This year Dressember aligned with the International Justice Mission and took on a whole new meaning, to combat human trafficking, and that’s right all us participants are doing it in a dress! That’s pretty kick ass, if you ask me.
Let’s not forget, however, this cause is so much bigger than a dress and is addressing (there may be a pun intended there) an issue that will outlive all of us. As it says on the Dressember website, ‘The heart of Dressember is freedom — that every woman, man, and child has the right to be free to live a vibrant life.’
If you are interested in donating to this cause and the work of the International Justice Mission (IJM) to put an end to modern day slavery and other forms of violent oppression, please head over to my campaign page here:
Remember, no amount is too small and 100% of the funds raised will go toward the life-changing work of the IJM.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed thus far and thank you in advance to those who will! Together, we’re making freedom happen!
p.s. It’s the fourteenth day of Dressember
