New York Fashion Week is well underway. So many collections look to be inspired by vintage – the 1930s and 1940s being the predominant era of attention. Project Runway winner Christian Siriano divulged his inspiration to be 1930’s screen siren, Fay Ray in Vampire Bat. “The funny thing is that it’s this quirky horror film,” Siriano
explained backstage. “But Fay Ray is just so glamorous and stunning in
the whole movie.”

My favorite collection thus far has to be by Tadashi Shoji’s glamorous and show stopping collection. He said to be inspired by Marlene Dietrich in Shanghai Express.

The rest of Shoji’s dresses looks to be inspired by the Hollywood glamor era of the 1950s. Just look at those voluminous tulle skirts, just gorgeous!

Meanwhile, the sixties ruled at L.A.M.B. and Alexander Wang. All of Gwen Stefani’s models rocked beehive hairdos and check out that skirt suit paired with knee high boots by Alexander Wang.

We’ll post more of our favorite collections from New York Fashion Week in the next following days and try to find the vintage connection. Keep a look out for them!

Much love,
