It’s been about nine months since my first OOTD post on this blog. I decided to start doing these outfit posts because I wanted to share my love of vintage fashion, as well as the way I like to wear my vintage finds. (You can read more about my reasons in this post I wrote in April.) As a result of these posts I’ve had the pleasure of getting in touch with and hearing from other vintage lovers, fashionistas, and bloggers from all over the world. This is the perfect opportunity for me to say a great big thanks to all of you out there who’ve been following along and getting in touch via Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram!
So, why am I bidding farewell to the mirror that was the start of all this?
|“I salute you, fitting room mirror, but the time has come for us part.”|
I’m very excited to announce I’m finally going to have a go at posting “proper” OOTD posts—you know, the type taken on the street, with a professional camera, and with the whole outfit in shot from head to toe! It took me a while to get here, partly because I thought I’d be self-conscious being photographed, especially in public. It feels a bit unnatural to me and most of the time I never know what to do with my face or my hands, but ultimately if there’s anything I’ve learned after starting my own business, it’s to push myself outside of my comfort zone and to stop making boundaries for myself.
|“Oh side mirror, we too, had some good times. You will also be missed.”|
I’m not gonna lie, I was a bit sad to take these last mirror selfies. It was like the last day of camp, or something. I ended up taking all these photos as Barbra Striesand sang “Memories” in my head. Okay, that last bit’s not true. Still, I’ll probably look back at these one day and say, “Oh my God! Remember when I did this?”
Two things I’ll miss: This is the one place you can photobomb yourself…
…and where the lighting is so damn good! I can honestly say I will miss the flattering lighting in this fitting room and can only hope it’ll be as good when I start making my street shots. Come oooonnn, “golden hour!” Other than that, “Hey ho and here we go!” This will most likely be the last mirror selfie OOTD post you’ll see out of me…alright, there maybe an occasional spontaneous one on Instagram, but as for the blog, it’s onwards and upwards. Wish me luck as I’ll start some time this week. I’ll let you know how it turns out…
