The Vintage Feels

It’s the dead of summer and yet I’m so into layering. Whenever the weather permits, I go for the dress over trousers combo (see here¬†and here). It’s not a look that’s on trend nor seasonal at all, and yet I’m so into it right now. True, this outfit is a bit tricky to pull off. Let me tell you though, when you get it right, boy do you get it right! The trick is to play around with the proportions a little. I’ve found a light and airy dress worn over a heavier fabric like denim flares works best. Also, try to stick to shorter dresses above the knee for this one. If you do choose a maxi, make sure it’s sheer (like this one) and that you pair it with skinny jeans instead. It’s the perfect sophisticated yet relaxed look that has gotten me through many “what to wear?” moments, whether it be for work parties, dressier brunches, and the ever dreaded I-don’t-know-what-to-wear-but-I-want-to-look-like-I-got-my-s@$#t-together-event.
