Have you ever seen a pair of shoes you almost really love except for one detail you wish you could change? This happens to me all the time! I’m always going, “Oh, if only the heel was an inch shorter so I can walk in it!” or “If only it was suede instead of leather.” Frustrated, some days I wish I was a shoe designer so I can have the shoe of my dreams made for me and sent straight to my door. Well, it turns out I can be and so can you! Enter, Shoes of Prey (http://www.shoesofprey.com), the online retailer that specializes in delivering customized shoes, designed by you, at non-luxury prices.
How Does Shoes of Prey Work
So, there are two ways you can go about customizing your own shoes. The first way is browsing through their existing catalog of shoe designs. You can find every shoe type known to man—heels, boots, flats, sneakers, and sandals. Choose the design you like and if you’d like to tweak something about it, you can. The second way is heading straight to their ‘Create’ page and designing your shoe from scratch. Both ways are super easy to do, and honestly it’s so much fun designing your own pair of shoes don’t be surprised if you end up spending the whole evening doing it!
Customizing my Perfect Pair of Mules
I started out with the model name Alesia 70, a pointed mule with a block heel. I’d been looking for another pair of mules to add to my ever growing collection. Yup, I admit it, I’m obsessed with mules and can’t get enough of them! They’re just so darn effortlessly chic and comfortable that they’ve pretty much been my go-to shoe since summer. Most of my mules are flats so I wanted to get my hands on one with a bit of a heel that wasn’t too tall but not too short. It’s not been easy finding one in stores in a sleek and stylish design that had a heel height just a bit under four inches so Shoes of Prey could not have come at a better time really!
Anyway back to the design, once you pick a style, you can click on a button that says ‘Customize’. This will lead you to their 3D shoe design page where you can visualize your shoe from every angle as you go along. Every part is customizable, from the toe type, the heel type and its height, as well as the colors and materials of every part of the shoe, like the sole, the heel, the lining, etc. I was like a kid in a candy store doing this bit! There are so many color and texture combinations to choose from, I ended up with multiple shoe designs before I was done! Don’t worry if you find yourself loving all your designs but can only afford one pair before your next payday. You can always save them to your account for later.
The End Result
Here’s my very own customized design! A pair of black soft suede mules with a crocodile embossed ash white Nappa leather angled block heel 2.8 inches in height and a premium black leather lining. It’s topped off with my own personalized inscription on the lining that reads, ‘Shoes of Prey X CutandChicVintage’. How fab is that?! You too can get your shoe design completed with an inscription of your own, like your name, a date, or a special message. Enter the code ‘CUTANDCHIC’ and get a free inscription with your next order (a $49 value)!
I love my new pair of mules! I’ve been rocking them everywhere since I got them. They fit perfectly and the heel is perfect too. I can walk around in them and they don’t pinch or hurt my feet; very important when I’m out and about in the concrete jungle! The pop of white is my favorite bit. It’s a little unexpected and different but the overall design is still very timeless, so yeah, this shoe couldn’t be more me and my sense of style!
