|quote from V&A – Ossie Clark – Ossie Clark’s Designs|
Ossie Clark was nicknamed ‘The King of King’s Road’, and rightfully so. His iconic, ethereal designs were worn by the likes of Marianne Faithfull, Liza Minelli, and Mick Jagger—and his work continues to influence designers to this very day. Clark understood how a dress should drape itself on a woman’s body, and it is that very important insight combined with his fearlessness to mix different prints in the same garment that his dresses look as wearable and fresh today as it did in the ’60s and ’70s. The beautiful prints were designed by Clark’s ex-wife and textile designer, Celia Birtwell. His designs with her prints was an amazing partnership. Today, original vintage Ossie Clark dresses are extremely desirable.
